Not everyone needs to take PREview, but more and more schools are adopting it, and even more recommend it. Keep in mind that school requirements change from year to year and can sometimes change last minute. Be sure to carefully check the requirements of each school you hope to apply to.

AAMC PREview Exam Dates 2025-2026 Cycle
PREview exam dates for the 2025-2026 application cycle are offered from April until September. Score reports are not released until six to seven weeks after your testing window.
The following test dates are available for the 2025-2026 application cycle.
Registration opened on February 25th; however, registration closing dates vary depending on your test date.

How to Book Your PREview Exam
1 | Logistics—How to Book
You’ll need an AAMC account to register for the PREview exam. If you already have an AAMC ID, which you also need to sign up for the MCAT, then you must use the same username and password.
Click the “Log In To Your AAMC PREview Portal” on the top right corner of the webpage. Once you enter your AAMC ID, you’ll need to make sure your name exactly matches the ID that you’ll show on your exam day. Check carefully, as you won’t be able to make any changes once you confirm your information and schedule your exam.
Next, select the “Products” tab and choose “AAMC Professional Readiness Exam (PREview),” which will lead you to the scheduling page.
Next, choose “Online Proctoring.” Then, you can select your time zone, test date, and appointment time. Click “Submit Booking,” complete the $100 payment (unless you qualify for fee assistance), and you’ll receive a confirmation email. You’ll be able to see your appointment in the PREview portal.
2 | Timing—When to Book
In 2025, PREview exam dates are offered from April until September. Score reports will be released approximately six to seven weeks after your testing window.
This means it’s essential to plan ahead. You don’t want something like a situational judgement to hold you back from moving along in the application process.
This makes scheduling your test a bit complicated. Some medical schools state that you can submit your PREview score up until the last date in September, which will get the school your score by October 23. However, according to the AAMC, your application may not be considered complete until participating schools receive your score.
To avoid having your application delayed, take your PREview exam as soon as possible. Keep in mind that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The first applications received are the first considered, which means the fastest applicants secure the first interview spots, and the first to interview are the first to receive acceptance offers.
Medical schools only have so many spots available, so any delay hinders your chance of acceptance. Do not procrastinate on any aspect of your application—including your PREview exam—as applying early is one of the most essential application strategies.
Aim to take your exam between test windows 1 to 4, which run from the start of April to the end of June, so that medical schools receive your results toward the beginning of the application cycle.
