They’re a dime a dozen, and they can be the one thing that prevents you from achieving your goals. Ask yourself, how many times do you stop and say “I can’t do this because of…”? If it’s a lot, well, there is a simple way of changing that.

Change Your Attitude

Attitude is everything, I’m sure you’ve heard that before. It’s true, your attitude towards a task will ultimately determine the results of that task. But how do you actually change your attitude? It starts with action. If you change your actions, your behaviors will naturally change in the process. This is something illustrated in my “How To Change Your Life – For Good” post. Telling yourself that you will change is not always an effective way for changing your actions. Instead, try to perform a task first. Do this without fail for a few consecutive days. Try it and see how you feel. It’s also important to remember that taking very small steps with your task in the beginning of this process will not only be easier on you but it will also help you turn this task into a habit. For example, if your goal is to get in shape and you can’t afford a gym membership, a simple way to start working towards this goal is to do 5 pushups, 5 squats, and 5 sit-ups each day of the week. Take Saturday and Sunday off. The next week, do 7 of each. The week after, do 9. As you get more comfortable with this habit, start building another one. Run for 5 minutes. Run for 10 minutes the next week. The point is, start small, and start with actions.

I’d also like to add that some excuses, like money, will require you to be very creative in order to get around the excuse. In the case above, using your own home or a local park as an alternative to a gym is a great way get in shape without having to pay money for a gym membership.
